
One person dead following ATV accident in Gateway
Gateway, Colorado - At approximately 3:15 Saturday afternoon, the Mesa County Sheriff's Office responded to Gateway after a witness called 911, reporting an older male had been working on his property when he accidentally backed his four-wheeler into West Creek and was swept away along with the ATV.
The Mesa County Sheriff's Office, MCSO's Search and Rescue Swift Water Team, Gateway Fire Department, and the Bureau of Land Management responded immediately to the area of Foy Road and Casto Lane in Gateway.
94-year-old Michael Olshove was located by a Sheriff's Office Deputy approximately a quarter mile downstream unconscious and not breathing. Life-saving measures were performed; however, he did not survive.
