MESA COUNTY, COLO. - The Mesa County Sheriff’s Office is proud to announce Lieutenant Lisa Peck has graduated from the American Jail Association - Jail Executive Institute. Lieutenant Peck has served as leadership for the American Jail Association (AJA) for nearly a decade and chose to pursue this graduate-degree level, nine month course to further her leadership capabilities.
The course is a collaboration between the American Jail Association and the University of Nebraska at Omaha’s School of Criminology and Criminal Justice. Lieutenant Peck completed a detailed application process, and was one of 25 jail executives (high ranking personnel members) accepted into the program. During the course, Lieutenant Peck completed a weeklong residency and follow-up online learning sessions. To conclude the course, she completed a capstone white paper providing a solution to an issue within the detention system or detention facility as approved by the course professor. The white paper was presented to a Board of Examiners at the end of the program via an oral presentation, which included a question and answer session and feedback.
The executive presentation and graduation culminated during the American Jail Association Conference in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Lieutenant Peck’s role extended far beyond graduation; she served as the Program Chair for the conference. In this role, Lieutenant Peck led a team of jail professionals from around the country to coordinate educational sessions for attendees, including reviewing and approving speaker session applications and developing a comprehensive event schedule.
Additionally, Lieutenant Peck was sworn in as the First Vice President of the American Jail Association. In this role, she will now oversee the end-to-end development of the 2027 AJA Conference and Jail Exposition.
The Mesa County Sheriff’s Office is extremely proud of Lieutenant Lisa Peck’s drive and determination to complete the American Jail Association - Jail Executive Institute, while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and leadership in her day to day role within the Mesa County Detention Facility. We look forward to the wonderful contributions she will continue to make to the agency and the field of detentions.
