The Mesa County Sheriff’s Office is excited to announce the Mesa County Detention Facility will be featured on the A&E television docuseries “Booked: First Day In.” The second season, premiering on January 10, chronicles the stories of arrestees as they move through the booking process in various jails across the country. The Mesa County Detention Facility is the first facility in Colorado to be selected for and participate in this television docuseries.
Over the course of a few months in late 2023, a crew from the New York-based production company Lucky 8 followed the booking process from the perspectives of both the arrestees and the deputies in the Facility. Through personal interviews and fly-on-the-wall videography, the arrestees recounted what led to their time in jail, and their movements through the justice system were documented. The production crew also collaborated with the Facility staff to highlight the professional and compassionate manner in which they conducted their duties.
Filming “Booked: First Day In” in the Mesa County Detention Facility provided the opportunity to highlight the booking process and the services incarcerated individuals have access to within the walls of the Facility.
Mesa County Sheriff Todd Rowell welcomed the opportunity to put the spotlight on the exceptional people who work in the Mesa County Detention Facility and the important work they do every single day. He expressed excitement about presenting the first step arrestees experience in the facility and showcasing the highly trained staff that deal with these individuals as they enter the Facility.
The new season of “Booked: First Day In” premieres January 10, 2024, at 10 p.m. ET/8 p.m. MT on A&E.
