GRAND JUNCTION, COLO. - On May 20, 2026, at approximately 1:30 p.m., deputies with the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of assault incidents that had occurred over multiple days in the 500 block of Shoshone Street.
Upon arrival, deputies were met with an adult female who was safely removed from the residence. Through communication with the suspect, deputies were able to get him to exit the residence without incident. Randy Abbott, 49, was taken into custody and transported to the Mesa County Detention Facility.
Through the course of the investigation, multiple firearms were located in the home. Abbott was charged with:
- Assault 2nd Degree with Intent to Cause Bodily Injury by Strangulation, Felony 4
- Assault 2nd Degree with Injury - Deadly Weapon, 2 Counts, Felony 4
- Habitual Domestic Violence Offender After 3 Previous Convictions, Felony 5
- Menacing - Real/Simulated Weapon, 2 Counts, Felony 5
- Assault in the 3rd Degree, Misdemeanor 1
- Domestic Violence
