GRAND JUNCTION, COLO. - On March 29, 2026, investigators with the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office arrested Malachi Brenner, 21, of Grand Junction, Colorado, for felony sex assault.

On March 24, 2024, deputies with the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a sexual assault that occurred in unincorporated Mesa County, Colorado. Following an interview with the victim and collection of DNA evidence, the case was turned over to investigators with the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office.

Following an in-depth investigation of the case and final DNA results, investigators received a warrant for the arrest of Malachi Brenner on March 27, 2026.

Brenner was arrested without incident on March 29, 2026, and was booked into the Mesa County Detention Facility on the following charge:

• Sexual Assault, Felony 4
