WHITEWATER, COLO. - On September 26, 2026, at approximately 11:25 p.m. deputies with the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office responded to a felony menacing incident that had occurred at the Whitewater Boat Ramp in Whitewater, Colorado. The reporting party stated the suspect, identified as Jacob McNeely, 18, of Whitewater, Colorado, had pulled a gun on the victim.
During their investigation, deputies learned McNeely located the victim and friends at the boat ramp. When the victim attempted to leave, McNeely used his vehicle to block the victim’s path. McNeely then approached the victim’s car on foot, where he brandished a gun and began making threatening statements. The victim attempted to run from the scene, but McNeely caught and physically restrained the victim. The victim was able to break free and return to their car before
Additionally, deputies learned McNeely had previously assaulted the victim in a shared home and had prevented the victim from leaving that shared home.
A warrant was issued for McNeely’s arrest on September 27, 2026. Deputies arrested McNeely the same day and transported him to the Mesa County Detention Facility on the following charges:
- Menacing - real/simulated weapon, Felony 5
- Harassment - strike, shove, kick or otherwise touches or subjects to physical contact, Misdemeanor 1
- False imprisonment, Felony 5
- Second degree kidnapping, Felony 4
- Assault - 2nd degree with injury - intent to cause bodily injury, Felony 4
- Harassment - repeat telephone calls, Misdemeanor 2
- Domestic violence
