Mesa County, Colo:  On May 21, 2021 Deputies responded to Central High school for a report of a student with a gun. The 16 year old male had been involved in a verbal altercation in the parking lot which school authorities were able to diffuse. School authorities completed a routine search of his person during which time they found a handgun and immediately requested Deputies' assistance. The student was transported to Division of Youth Services where he was screened in on charges including possession of a concealed handgun on school grounds. Investigation has determined that the gun was not discharged during the event and this is an isolated incident.
