CLIFTON, CO - On June 23, 2025, at approximately 7:20 p.m. the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office and Clifton Fire Protection District responded to reports of a fast growing weed fire threatening homes behind the 500 block of Purple Ash Circle in Clifton, CO. Due to the size of the fire, Grand Junction Fire Department responded with two additional fire engines for mutual aid.
Deputies with the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office evacuated multiple homes along the 500 block of Purple Ash Circle and 500 Autumn Breeze Drive. The fire grew to engulf approximately three quarters of an acre of wildland urban interface behind the homes, including a property to the south of the 500 block of Autumn Breeze drive.
In total, three homes were involved along the 500 block of Purple Ash Circle, as well as an RV and vehicles on the land to the south of the 500 block of Autumn Breeze Drive. Two families were displaced and have been offered services by the American Red Cross.
No injuries were sustained by residents or emergency responders during this incident. The cause and extent of damage, as well as further information, will be released pending the investigation.
