CLIFTON, COLO. - On April 15, 2026, at approximately 5:45 a.m., deputies with the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office responded to a burglary in progress on the 3200 block of E ½ Road in Clifton, Colorado. A resident on the street reported a female potentially breaking the window of a nearby home and entering the home in some manner.
When deputies arrived, they located a female suspect inside of the home. The owner of the property was contacted and confirmed no one should be inside of the residence. Deputies received permission from the homeowner to enter the house to remove the suspect, identified as Krystal Rash, 47, of Grand Junction, Colorado. Rash barricaded herself inside of a room, however, deputies were able to forcefully open and safely detain her.
Rush was transported to the Mesa County Detention Facility where she is being held on the following charges:
- Second degree burglary of a dwelling, Felony 3
- Criminal mischief - $300-$1000, Misdemeanor 2
- Resisting arrest, Misdemeanor 2
- Obstructing a peace officer, firefighter, or emergency medical personnel, Misdemeanor 2
- Failure or refusal to leave premises or property upon request of peace officer, Misdemeanor 2
