GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - At approximately 12:25 p.m. on August 12, 2026, deputies with the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 200 block of Mansfield Court following a report of a camper fire that was reported to have been intentionally set. The Grand Junction Fire Department responded to extinguish the fire and provide medical assistance as needed at the scene.
The residents inside the home—where the camper was parked—safely evacuated when the fire was reported. A male, identified as 41-year-old William Gundelach of Grand Junction, was inside the camper during the fire and was transported to a local hospital.
After being medically released, Gundelach was arrested and booked into the Mesa County Detention Facility on the following charges:
- 4th Degree Arson, Felony 3
- Reckless Endangerment, Misdemeanor 2 (4 Counts)
