MESA COUNTY, Colo. - On July 27, 2026, at approximately 10:15 p.m., deputies with the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of an in-progress harassment occurring in the 2900 block of Orchard Ave., Grand Junction.

Upon arrival, deputies were met with an adult female and male. During the investigation, deputies determined the male was prevented from leaving the residence and that physical contact was made during the dispute. The suspect, Jensyn Zotto, 24, was taken into custody and transported to the Mesa County Detention Facility on the following charges:

• False imprisonment, Misdemeanor 2
• Harassment - strike, shove, kick or otherwise touches or subjects to physical contact, Misdemeanor 1
• Domestic violence

On July 28, 2026, at approximately 8:50 a.m., deputies were dispatched to a restraining order violation in the 3200 block of Main St., Clifton. The restraining order is a no-contact order, and the victim had evidence of a violation by Stephen Cates.

Deputies contacted Cates in the 2600 block of Applewood Place, in Grand Junction. During a search of Cates subsequent to arrest, deputies found a suspected methamphetamine pipe in his possession. Cates was booked into the Mesa County Detention Facility on the following charges:

• Violation of a protection order - Misdemeanor 2
• Possession of drug paraphernalia - Petty Offense

Also on July 28, at approximately 12:45 p.m., deputies were dispatched to a report of an assault that had just occurred in the 400 block of Bing St., Grand Junction. Upon arrival, deputies were met outside by an adult female with visible injuries. There were children in the residence at the time of the incident.

Justin Shaw, 28, of Grand Junction, was arrested and booked into the Mesa County Detention Facility on the following charges, related to this incident:

• Assault in the third degree - Misdemeanor 1
• Domestic violence
• Child abuse knowingly/reckless, no injury - Misdemeanor 2 (3 counts)
