Update: The Mesa County Coroner’s Office identified the body recovered in the Colorado River as Dustin Robinson, 43, of Clifton, Colorado. Mr. Robinson was reported missing and last seen on May 24, 2021. His car was located near the Colorado River. The Mesa County Coroner’s Office has determined the cause of death is drowning and the manner of death is accident. Toxicology is pending at this time and he was not wearing a life preserver.

The Mesa County Sheriff’s Office has recovered a body from the Colorado River.
At approximately 12:20 Friday afternoon, a kayaker found a body of an adult male in the river near 30 3/4 Road. Mesa County Sheriff’s Office deputies with the assistance of the Mesa County Coroner’s Office and the Mesa County Search and Rescue Swiftwater swimmers recovered the body.
Deputies have been searching the river by boat since a possible drowning was reported around 9:00 pm on Monday, May 24, 2021. Witnesses reported seeing an unidentified man fall into the river while climbing up a cliff near 32 ½ Road and D Road.
The Mesa County Coroner’s Office is working on identifying the remains. Once next of kin is notified, the Coroner’s office will release the person’s name as well as cause and manner of death.
This case remains under investigation.
