GRAND JUNCTION, COLO. - On April 9, 2026, at approximately 7:30 a.m., deputies with the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a vehicle theft that had just occurred at a home on the 2900 block of North Avenue in Grand Junction, Colorado. A family member of the reporting party was following the stolen vehicle as it traveled westbound on North Avenue.
When deputies arrived, the vehicle owners provided home security footage of a male entering the unlocked vehicle and driving away from the residence. Deputies received information regarding the potential location of the truck and located a male in the area that matched the description of the suspect seen in the security footage.
The male, identified as Louie Alire, 37, of Grand Junction, Colo., was arrested on outstanding warrants while deputies continued their investigation. Ultimately, deputies located evidence that identified Alire as the male seen in the security footage leaving in the truck.
Alire was transported to the Mesa County Detention Facility and booked in on the following charges associated with this case:

Criminal mischief - under $300, Petty Offense

Third degree motor vehicle theft - obtain/control, Felony 5

Theft of $1000-$2000 - from a motor vehicle, Misdemeanor 1

Second degree criminal trespass of motor vehicle, Misdemeanor 2
The truck was successfully recovered and returned to the victims. There is no further information about this case available at this time.
