The Mesa County Sheriff's Office responded to the death of a hiker that occurred Wednesday morning. At approximately 10:20 am, Mesa County Sheriff’s Office Deputies and Mesa County Search and Rescue volunteers responded to a report of a hiker who fell in the area of the Rough Canyon Lemon Squeezer in Bangs Canyon.
The caller stated an adult hiker fell approximately 50-60 feet. The Grand Junction Fire Department performed life-saving measures, but the 41-year-old female did not survive.
The Mesa County Coroner's Office is responsible for determining the cause and manner of death as well as releasing the person’s identity once next of kin is notified.
