On Thursday, June 10, 2021, at approximately 6:00 p.m. officers with the Grand Junction Police Department responded to a report of a wanted subject in the area of Rocket Park, 1827 N 26th Street.

Before arriving, officers received information from the Grand Junction Regional Communication Center the 44-year-old male had an active no bond warrant for his arrest out of the Grand Junction Police Department for Misdemeanor Domestic Violence and a Protection Order Violation.

While contacting the male, a fight occurred and the suspect fled in a Black Mazda.  Two officers were injured in that altercation. One was treated on scene by paramedics; the other was transported to the hospital and has since been released.

A short time later, Grand Junction Police Department officers located the suspect parked in the parking lot of Sportsman’s Warehouse (2464 US Hwy 6 And 50). While contacting the subject, an officer-involved shooting occurred.

Officers immediately rendered medical aid until paramedics arrived. The suspect was transported to the hospital via ambulance and is being treated for his injuries. No officers were injured in the shooting.
