The Mesa County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of an infant as a homicide. Kye Fields, 3 weeks old, of Mack, died on August 18, 2021, at Children’s Hospital after being transferred from a local hospital.

The Mesa County Coroner's Office has determined the child died as a result of complications of blunt force head trauma. His death has been ruled a homicide. 

Investigators are continuing to investigate the circumstances that lead to Kye’s death.
