On July 22, 2022, Mesa County Sheriff's Deputies stopped a vehicle at Mile Post 7 on I-70 for speeding, 110 mph in a 75 mph zone.  During the stop, approximately 29.2 pounds of cocaine and 2 handguns were found. After the drugs were found, Jaylin Lemons, age 22, of Phoenix, was arrested for  Possession with Intent to Distribute more than 225 grams of cocaine, a Drug Felony 1 charge, Special Offender for transporting more than 14 grams of cocaine into the state of Colorado, a Drug Felony 1 charge, Special Offender for being in Possession of a Firearm, a Drug Felony 1 charge, and multiple traffic violations. Lemons was booked into the Mesa County Detention Facility.
