At 7:36 pm on August 7, 2024, members of the Major Offender Task Force (MOTF) located Raymond Vara at a home located in the 500 block of Beverly Lane in Grand Junction.  The homeowner was unaware that Mr. Vara had an outstanding warrant for his arrest and allowed MOTF Deputies to search the home and surrounding property.  Vara was discovered hiding behind a shed outside the residence and was taken into custody without further incident.

Vara is currently held in the Mesa County Detention Facility on charges of Menacing/Simulated Weapon, a Class 5 Felony, and a Felony Failure to Appear Warrant. Both are cash bonds totaling $30,000.
