At approximately 3:40 pm on May 20, 2021, Deputies with the Mesa County Sheriff's office were dispatched to the area Deputies were dispatched to the area of 24 and I roads for a man who was using bear spray and possibly firing a hand gun. Upon arrival they were able to locate the man and his vehicle at which time he fled and deputies pursued. He stopped at Community Hospital, which went into lockdown, and deputies were able to take him into custody without injury to the man or deputies. The man, identified as Robert Johnson, was arrested on several charges including 1st degree assault, 2nd degree assault, and Felony menacing. He is currently being held in the Mesa County Jail.
