On April 23, 2025, at approximately 6:30 AM, Deputies from the Fremont County Sheriff's Office attempted to contact 37-year-old Robert E. Tomsic, who was wanted on multiple felony warrants. Initial information indicated that Tomsic was in the area of Central and Robbie Lane in Canon City. Through investigative efforts, a residence was identified and surveilled by Detectives. Later in the afternoon, Deputies obtained search warrants for the residence and attempted to contact Tomsic. He exited the residence via a window and led Deputies on a foot chase throughout the neighborhood, where he was eventually captured without incident. Tomsic was booked into the Fremont County Jail on the following multiple charges:

• Obstruction, Resisting Arrest, 2nd Degree Criminal Trespass
• Failure to Appear - Violation of Bond conditions (Archuleta County)
• Possession Sch 1/2 , Driving under Restraint (Archuleta County)
• Aggravated Motor Vehicle Theft, Felony Eluding (La Plata County)

The Fremont County Sheriff's Office would like to extend its gratitude to the Canon City Police Department for their assistance in safeguarding Mountain View and Harrison Schools during this operation. We also appreciate the cooperation of our community members whose neighborhood was impacted by the actions of this wanted fugitive. All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
