Dutchess County District Attorney Anthony Parisi announces that today, August 12, following a 5-day trial and 2 ½ days of deliberations, a Dutchess County jury convicted Victor Harris, 42, of six felony sex offenses and one misdemeanor stemming from the sexual abuse of a child. The jury was hung on four additional charges.
District Attorney Anthony Parisi said, “The sexual abuse and exploitation of children are among the most reprehensible crimes we prosecute. Victor Harris preyed upon a vulnerable young victim, and today’s verdict holds him accountable for the devastating harm caused by his conduct. This verdict would not have been possible without the extraordinary courage of this young victim, who came forward, told the truth, and endured the difficult process of confronting their abuser in court. I commend Special Victims Unit Chief Angela Lopane and Senior Assistant District Attorney Stephanie DeMartini for their exceptional work and unwavering commitment to the victim, as well as the investigators and victim advocates who stood beside them throughout this case. My Office we will stand with child victims, we will fight for them in the courtroom, and we will relentlessly pursue those who sexually abuse or exploit them.”
