CLIFTON, COLO. - On August 10, 2026, deputies with the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office responded to a trespassing report on the 3200 block of F Road in Clifton, Colorado. A male subject was refusing to leave a property after multiple requests. When deputies attempted to contact the male subject, he took off running southbound, jumping through multiple backyards as deputies created a boundary of the area.

Following a short foot pursuit, the male was detained on the 3200 block of E ½ Road. The suspect was identified as Enrique Chavez, 31, of Clifton, Colorado. Deputies searched Chavez’s vehicle once in custody and found drugs and drug paraphernalia.

Chavez was transported to the Mesa County Detention Facility on the following charges:

• Possession of drug paraphernalia, Drug Petty Offense
• Unlawful possession of <4G controlled substance schedule I/II, flunitrazepam, ketamine, GHB, Drug Misdemeanor 1
• Violation of a protection order, Misdemeanor 1
• Warrants from other jurisdictions
