Keenesburg PD had an interesting week, responding to 36 calls for service and making 33 traffic stops!

Some of those calls included:

26KE00583:

On 6/24, Keenesburg Officers responded to Lochbuie PD's request for assistance at 342 Willow Dr.

Mr. Jorge Casas decided his neighbors were being louder than they should have been and politely asked them to quiet down... at knife point.

Mr. Casas then retreated into his home and declined officers' repeated invitations to come outside.

After a short standoff, officers forced entry into the home and took Mr. Casas into custody.

Apparently, the neighborhood HOA doesn't recommend this conflict resolution strategy.

26KE00590:

On 6/26, Keenesburg Officers noticed a cement truck driving on S. Elm St., where commercial motor vehicles are prohibited.

Officers stopped the truck and contacted the driver, Mr. Rene Mejia-Arazo.

Mr. Mejia-Arazo explained he was unaware of the truck route. Officers also discovered he was apparently unaware that operating a commercial motor vehicle generally requires a Commercial Driver's License.

To make matters a little worse, Mr. Mejia-Arazo was also driving on a suspended driver's license.

Mr. Mejia-Arazo was arrested on his charges and provided with some educational material regarding Colorado traffic laws.

26KE00592:

On 6/26, Keenesburg Officers were driving on WCR 49 when a vehicle passed them at a comfortable 102 mph.

The driver kept her foot in it, weaving around all those pesky motorists who insisted on driving the speed limit.

Officers eventually caught up with the vehicle in the 23,000 block of the I-76 Frontage Road and contacted the driver, Ms. Precious Soto.

Ms. Soto apologized profusely and explained she was late for a graduation party.

Officers also learned Ms. Soto had only been licensed for about a month.

This was also the seventh time she had been stopped since getting that license.

At that point, officers decided it was probably time for Ms. Soto to have a conversation with a judge instead of continuing on to the party.

Ms. Soto was taken into custody for Criminal Speeding and Reckless Driving.
