CLIFTON, COLO. - On June 16, 2026, at approximately 8:20 p.m., deputies with the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a shooting incident in the 400 block of Cougar Run Court. Through the course of the investigation, Curtis Fryer, 47, of Clifton, was identified as the suspect in a shooting incident with a crossbow.
The adult male victim initially self-transported away from the residence to obtain medical care. He was later evaluated mid-route and transported to an area hospital by first-responder partners from the Clifton Fire Department.
Fryer was arrested without incident and booked into the Mesa County Detention Facility on the following charges:
- Assault First Degree Intent to cause Serious Bodily Injury - Deadly Weapon, Felony 3
- Menacing - Real/Simulated Weapon, Felony 5 (2 Counts)
- Reckless Endangerment, Misdemeanor 2
