GRAND JUNCTION, COLO. - On May 20, 2026, at approximately 1:30 a.m., deputies with the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of assault in the 2900 block of Orchard Avenue.
During the investigation, Brendon Verley, 19, was identified as the suspect. He is suspected of threatening behavior with a knife in the presence of an infant and strangulation of an adult female. Verley left the residence prior to the arrival of deputies, but was later arrested in the 1500 block of Poplar Drive.
Verley was booked into the Mesa County Detention Facility on the following charges:
Assault 2nd Degree with Intent to Cause Bodily Injury by Strangulation, Felony 4
Child Abuse Knowingly Reckless - No Injury, Misdemeanor 2
