GATEWAY, CO - As of July 12, 2025, at 12 p.m., a PRE-EVACUATION NOTICE has been made to residences, businesses, and land in the area of Highway 141 between Mile Markers 120 and 128 near Gateway, Colorado. For information on how to prepare for an evacuation, please visit our During a Wildfire page.
The public is asked to please avoid this area to allow fire crews to continue work containing the Turner Gulch and Wright Draw Fires. Information on the status of these fires can be found via the Bureau of Land Management Upper Colorado River District.

Update July 12, 2025 4:30 p.m. - Large Animal Shelter Assistance for Pre-Evacuation Areas
In an effort to aid those in the Pre-Evacuation Zone near Gateway, CO, with large animals, the Mesa County Natural Resources Department has set up an assistance phone line. For those with large animals who need assistance in securing shelter for their large animals please call 970-778-0161 to be connected with options and resources.
