On April 2, 2024 Moffat County Investigators were notified by a family member of Mr. Velasquez, that he had been located.  During a self-initiated search by the family member, a body was located near the same location a Polaris Ranger associated with Mr. Velasquez had been located in January of 2024.  

Moffat County Investigators, Search and Rescue, and the Moffat County Coroners Office responded to the area and recovered the body, that was positively identified as Thomas Ray Velasquez, Tuesday Afternoon.  The body was still partially covered in snow, and had been completely covered in snow just days prior to discovery.  There were still deep pockets of snow in the area, which impacted prior search efforts by family members, law enforcement, and community members.  No foul play is suspected at this time.
