Just after 9:00 pm on March 28, 2024, Deputies with the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a possible shooting on Interstate 70 near Mile Marker 50. The victim reported while traveling westbound on I-70, they were involved in a road rage incident with another vehicle. When the victim attempted to pass the suspect’s vehicle, the male driver pointed a handgun out the window and proceeded to fire multiple times toward their car.
The Palisade Police Department located the suspect vehicle at the Golden Gate Gas Station in Palisade. The driver was detained until deputies arrived and placed 41-year-old Christopher Ryan into custody—a handgun matching the witness description that was located inside his vehicle by deputies during a search.
Ryan was transported to the Mesa County Detention facility and is being held on multiple charges.
There were no injuries and no damage to any vehicles as a result of this incident.
