Thanks to the quick investigative work performed by the Criminal Investigative Division, Haji Jacobs was apprehended shortly after this incident and identified as the shooter.  Jacobs is charged with Aggravated Assault and Recklessly Endangering Another Person.  At this time, there has been no reports of the victim being struck by the single gunshot fired. 

Today (June 2, 2026), it was reported that a shooting occurred downtown in the area of the Capitol Grill Bar, located at 108 N. Mercer St.  At this time, there is no known gunshot victim.  Our Detectives are currently investigating the incident and 2 people are detained.  As a precaution, the New Castle Jr./Sr. High School was placed on a temporary administrative lockdown, which has already been lifted.  If anyone has information regarding this incident, please contact dispatch at 724-656-9300.
