Dutchess County District Attorney Anthony Parisi announces today that following four days of testimony and less than two hours of deliberations, a Dutchess County jury convicted 69-year-old Lorgio Hernandez-Quevedo, of Attempted Arson in the Second Degree, a Class C Violent Felony.
District Attorney Anthony Parisi said, “The defendant deliberately attempted to set fire to an occupied apartment building while residents were inside their homes, placing innocent lives at extraordinary risk. The fact that this fire was never fully ignited does not diminish the danger posed by his actions or the fear inflicted upon the victims. This case could have ended in tragedy. The jury carefully reviewed the evidence, including surveillance footage and witness testimony, and held the defendant accountable for his actions. I commend the members of the jury for their service and attention to the facts, and I thank the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department and the prosecutors assigned to this case for their thorough investigation and commitment to justice.”
