P'Nut the Squirrel was an Internet sensation for several years. All of a sudden, P'Nut's welfare was questioned and law enforcement officers raided the home where P'Nut was domiciled on the pretense he needed saving. Then authorities killed him.
Policing is complicated business and there's no question that citizens expect police to fulfill certain community roles. We are proud of the reputation KPD is creating in your community. We are committed to the philosophy that policing is not something we do TO the community, instead something we do WITH our community. As police chief, I cannot imagine a scenario in which the Police Department would invest community resources on the folly of seizing a squirrel from a private residence, especially using force to do it. We focus our efforts on keeping Keenesburg's residents and visitors safe. We are committed to living our values and preserving a lifestyle that the people of Keenesburg cherish--and that doesn't include raiding a house to take and kill a pet.
We encourage your feedback to help us stay on track and improve where we can.
