On October 22nd, the Keenesburg Police Department teamed up with the Colorado State Patrol Mobile Port of Entry Officers for a four-hour commercial motor vehicle (CMV) operation in town. In that short window, officers contacted 75 CMVs, uncovered 25 violations, and parked four of them for being out of service.
One driver decided the best way to avoid inspection was to throw his semi in reverse and back into someone’s yard, a creative move, but not exactly a great escape plan. Officers quickly caught up, discovered he didn’t have a valid commercial driver’s license, and he was taken to jail.
Meanwhile, another driver from a nearby company thought it’d be a good time to film the whole operation on his cell phone while driving his boss’s semi. Needless to say, multitasking didn’t go in his favor. He was issued a court summons and will get the chance to explain his cinematic ambitions to a judge.
Thanks to the teamwork between Keenesburg PD and the Colorado State Patrol Port of Entry, the operation was a big success. While a few drivers tried to get creative, our focus stayed the same keeping Keenesburg’s roads safe and our community protected, one semi at a time.
