CLIFTON, CO - On September 13, 2025, at 11:40 a.m. Deputies with the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office responded to a vehicle stolen from a parking lot on the 500 block of 32 Road in Clifton, Colorado. The vehicle’s owner provided the license plate and unique descriptors for the vehicle which allowed Deputies to quickly locate the vehicle driving into the 29 Road desert area.
Deputies tracked the vehicle into the desert where a pursuit was deemed safe to initiate. The vehicle was stopped via a precision immobilization technique (PIT) maneuver and two suspects were taken into custody. In total, the suspects were taken into custody less than 30 minutes after the vehicle was reported stolen.
The suspects have been identified and transported to the Mesa County Detention Facility on the following charges:
Jake Rodriguez (34) of Grand Junction, CO
- Aggravated Driving w/ Revoked License/Habitual Offender/Commits DUI, DWAI, Eluding, Reckless Driving, Misdemeanor 1
- Vehicular Eluding, Felony 5
- Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle - 2nd Offense, Felony 5
- Fugitive Other Jurisdiction Warrant
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Drug Petty Offense
- Possession of Schedule I/II Controlled Substance, Drug Misdemeanor 1
- Reckless Driving, Traffic Offense Class 2 Misdemeanor
- Criminal Mischief $5,000 or More, Less Than $20,000, Felony 5
- 1st Degree Criminal Trespass Auto w/ Intent to Commit Crime, Misdemeanor 1
