MCSO Investigating Gun Fired Inside Home
At 10:14 am this morning, the Mesa County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to a call in the area of 32 1/8 Road and D 1/2 Road on a report of a known person with a gun inside the address. One shot was fired inside the residence. A woman and two children fled the home, but it was believed a roommate remained inside. Surrounding apartments were evacuated, and the SWAT team was dispatched to the scene to assist in making contact. Deputies finally confirmed the roommate was not in the home; however, they still believed the suspect to be barricaded in one of the bedrooms. Receiving no response from anyone inside, gas canisters were deployed, and entry was made into the residence. The suspect was also no longer inside the apartment. Sheds and outbuildings in the surrounding area were searched, but the suspect was not located.
This investigation is ongoing, with possible criminal charges pending.
