MESA, CO - On September 28, 2025, around 12:00 p.m. the chairlift at Powderhorn Mountain Resort experienced an electrical malfunction. The malfunction caused the lift to cease movement for a short period of time. Lift operators with Powderhorn were able to resolve the electrical issue to move all passengers to the top of the ski run.
Deputies with the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office, Mesa County Search and Rescue resources, US Forest Service Rangers, and Powderhorn Ski Patrol vehicles escorted a total of 37 passengers back to the base of the mountain safely.
No injuries were reported by passengers, staff, or first responders during this incident.
