MCSO Captain retires after 32 years of service
Today we bid farewell to Captain Don Hendricks as he retires after 32 years of exemplary service with the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office.
Captain Hendricks began his career as a patrol deputy in 1991. Over his extensive career, he has held every rank, from Deputy to Investigator, Patrol Sergeant, Lieutenant, and Captain.
In 1993, he was awarded the Medal of Merit; in 2007, the Medal of Valor; and in 2020, he received the Excellence Award for his work to create the Colorado Law Enforcement Training Center, Firing Range.
A humble man, Captain Hendricks preferred to leave his post quietly, without any fanfare, but his accomplishments and the lives he has touched are immeasurable. We would be remiss if we did not officially say goodbye and tell him, “Thank you, Sir, for a job very well done.”
