MESA COUNTY, CO - On September 18, 2025, at approximately 3:30 p.m., the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office, members of the Mesa County Search and Rescue (SAR), along with Grand Junction Fire Department (GJFD) responded to the call of an injured mountain biker on Ribbon Trail, off Little Park Road, southwest of the city of Grand Junction.
The GJFD deployed a drone along with the SAR ground team members to pinpoint the patient’s exact location. This assisted in CareFlight obtaining a safe landing zone for transporting the adult patient to a local hospital in an efficient and timely manner.
Fellow riders, with the injured patient, called for emergency services allowing this rescue to be completed in daylight hours. This allowed for the best possible outcome for all involved. The Mesa County Sheriff’s Office is grateful for their continued partnership with SAR and GJFD, along with CareFlight, for continued successful rescues in our community.
