CLIFTON, COLO. - On September 25, 2026, at approximately 9:55 a.m., deputies with the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of an intoxicated individual making threatening statements regarding use of weapons on the 500 block of 32 Road in Clifton, Colorado. The individual was reported to be in possession of a semi-automatic rifle and a pistol.

Deputies contacted the target of the statements to ensure their safety and to better understand the circumstances of the report. During this interaction, deputies were alerted to a single car crash into the ditch near 33 Road and C ½ Road in Clifton. Deputies located the individual, identified as Travis Lusher, 43, of Clifton, Colorado, who was placed into custody based on previous reports of being armed. Lusher appeared to be intoxicated and was uncooperative while being placed into a patrol vehicle to await evaluation from paramedics. 

During a search of Lusher’s vehicle, deputies located multiple empty bottles of alcohol, along with a rifle and pistol with accompanying magazines.

Lusher was ultimately transported to the Mesa County Detention Facility on the following charges:

• DUI - Drove vehicle under the influence - 3 or more prior convictions, Felony 4
• Prohibited use of a weapon, Misdemeanor 1
• Failure to appear warrant
