CLIFTON, COLO. - On July 16, 2026, at approximately 7:30 p.m., deputies with the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported assault on the 600 block of Highland Drive in Clifton, Colorado. While the suspect left prior to deputies’ arrival, the suspect was able to be identified as Ray Hamlin, 56, of Whitewater, Colorado.
Deputies learned that Hamlin had been repeatedly asked to leave the property, resulting in a verbal confrontation that evening. Further investigation found that Hamlin had reportedly assaulted the victim days prior causing still-visible injuries.
Deputies contacted Hamlin at a separate residence on the 8500 block of Bean Ranch Road in Clifton, Colorado, where he was arrested without incident. Hamlin was transported to the Mesa County Detention Facility on the following charges:
