Update: 29 Road Bridge is back open



4:00 PM Update: 29 Road Bridge is Back open. The person was safely taken into protective custody. The Community Notification has been lifted.


At approximately 11:15 Wednesday morning, deputies were dispatched to a report of an adult male on the edge of the 29 Road Bridge. 

Mesa County Sheriff’s Office, Grand Junction Police Department, Colorado State Patrol, and the Grand Junction Fire Department immediately responded. Deputies and officers trained in crisis intervention and Mind Springs Mobile Crisis Clinicians are speaking with the individual. 

29 Road Bridge is still closed between C ½ Road and Unaweep. The public is asked to use an alternative route: 5th Street or 32 Road bridges. A Community Notification to shelter-in-place was also sent to residents in the immediate area. 

Deputies and officers are working diligently to resolve the situation as quickly and safely as possible.
