On July 27, 2022, deputies with Mesa County Sheriff’s Office's Major Offenders Task Force, Crime Reduction Unit, and Intelligence Unit located and arrested Jeffrey Heal (age 41), who was a wanted fugitive with a $500,000.00 warrant for Unlawful Distribution/Manufacturing/Dispensing/Sale of a Schedule I/II drug.
Heal was initially located near 31 1/2 Road and I-70 Business Loop, driving a vehicle. When law enforcement officers attempted to contact Heal, he eluded them. After a short pursuit, Heal crashed his car and ran on foot. Law enforcement officers found Heal hiding in a canal. Heal was transported to the Mesa County Detention Facility on the warrant and was charged with 2nd Degree Assault, a class 4 felony, Vehicular Eluding, a class 5 felony, and several other charges.
