At approximately 9:15 Monday evening, Mesa County Sheriff’s Office deputies contacted an apartment on the 2900 block of Orchard Avenue regarding possible chemicals.
A person had called 911 concerned the residents were possibly making a toxic substance by mixing chemicals. Deputies contact two people living in the apartment and found three bottles containing an unknown substance.
The Grand Junction Fire Department Hazmat Team was called to assist. Nearby residents were advised to close their windows and stay inside as a precaution. The Hazmat Team ultimately determined the area was safe.
The occupants, identified as Robert Blagg, 33, and Sharma Roberts, 44, were arrested on the following charge: Possession Use or Removal of Explosives or Incendiary Devices/Possession of Components Thereof F3 (CRS 18-12-109 (6.5)).
The Mesa County Sheriff’s Office is working with federal partners on this investigation.
