On January 5, 2024, at approximately 5:00 AM Deputies of the Fremont County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to the 1600 block of Locust, Canon City CO, in reference to shots fired.  Upon arrival, Fremont County Deputies and Officers with the Canon City Police Department located one victim with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.  A second person was also later located with gunshot wounds inside the residence.  Both individuals were later pronounced deceased, and their identities will not be released at this time.  Several parties have been detained for questioning.  A shelter-in-place notification was broadcast for a ¼ mile radius, which has since been lifted.  Deputies have determined that there is no further risk to the community.
