During this investigation Deputies were able to identify 36-year-old Joseph J. Tippet as a possible suspect.  Tippet was contacted in Salida, Colorado by the Colorado State Patrol and taken into custody without incident.  He has been transferred to the Fremont County Detention Center where he is being held on a $1,000,000.00 cash-only bond.  Tippet is currently being charged with one count of First-Degree Homicide.

Previous-

On January 6^th, 2023 at approximately 9:00 PM, deputies from the Fremont County sheriff’s Office responded to a person with a gun call in the 400 block of South Reynolds.  At this location the deputies located a deceased male with signs of trauma.  Based on information collected at the scene, a person of interest was identified and has been taken into custody.
