The New Castle Police Department is currently investigating a fatal motor vehicle accident that occurred on the evening of May 26, 2026.

At approximately 6:35 PM, officers were dispatched to the intersection of South Walnut Street and County Line Street for a reported motor vehicle accident. Upon arrival, officers determined that an individual operating an e-bike had collided with a marked patrol vehicle operated by the Butler County Sheriff's Office.

The operator of the e-bike, identified as 25-year-old Jaycob Heasley, was found unresponsive at the scene. He was transported to UPMC Jameson, where he was later pronounced deceased.

The investigation into the accident remains active and ongoing. The Pennsylvania State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Specialists Unit (CARS) responded to the scene and conducted a collision reconstruction investigation in coordination with the New Castle Police Department.
