Fire Restrictions to be Lifted in Moffat County – Effective September 24, 2025 at 12:01 AM
The Moffat County Sheriff’s Office, in cooperation with Little Snake BLM, Dinosaur National Monument, and USFWS Browns Park Refuge, is announcing that all fire restrictions in Moffat County will be lifted beginning Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at 12:01 a.m.
This decision is based on careful consideration of current conditions, including recent moisture and reduced fire danger across the county.
We would like to thank the community for their patience and cooperation throughout this year’s fire season. Your commitment to following restrictions played a vital role in reducing the risk of wildfires. We would also like to recognize and thank the dedicated firefighters, both local and from partner agencies, whose hard work and quick response helped keep Moffat County safe.
Although restrictions are being lifted, we remind everyone that wildfires remain a risk. Please continue to practice fire safety at all times, whether at home, outdoors, or while recreating on public lands. Even small sparks can start fires under the right conditions.
The Moffat County Sheriff’s Office encourages all residents and visitors to stay alert, use caution, and report any signs of smoke or fire immediately.
