Hidden In Plain Sight (HIPS)
Hidden in Plain Sight (HIPS) is a free community awareness program designed to educate parents and guardians on the signs of risky teen behavior. We recreate a complete typical teenager’s bedroom and during the first half hour of the program, participants “snoop” through the room to find any items and objects that could indicate “risky behavior”. Risky behaviors covered are drug use, underage drinking, eating disorders, sexual behaviors, and more. In the following hour, each item and its connection to a risky behavior in the room is explained and information is provided on current statistics, trends, and resources for help. Questions from participants are welcomed and encouraged. This program is presented by Culpeper PD with admission limited to adults only. To schedule a presentation, please contact Master Police Officer Mike Grant at 540-829-5527 or MGrant@culpeperva.gov
