This morning, a citizen reported a possible mountain lion was heard near the western part of the Lochbuie Farms area. While evidence of a predator was found, it has not been definitively confirmed as a mountain lion. However, we cannot rule out the possibility at this time.
We urge all residents to remain vigilant:
- Inspect sheds, barns, and other outbuildings regularly.
- Remove debris and clutter from your property.
- Keep outdoor areas clean to discourage wildlife from settling.
The Lochbuie area offers food, water, and shelter —key attractants for wildlife such as mountain lions, bobcats, coyotes, and others. Taking proactive steps can help reduce the likelihood of encounters.
For guidance on coexisting safely with wildlife, please visit the Colorado Parks and Wildlife Living with Wildlife page. https://cpw.state.co.us/living-wildlife
If you have any information (especially video footage) regarding this potential encounter, please contact CSO M. Gunter at mgunter@lochbuie.org or 720-606-1531.
Thank you for helping keep our community safe.
