We know the Fourth of July is right around the corner, and we know some of you have already started dusting off your "totally legal" fireworks.
Let's save everyone some time.
If you're setting off illegal fireworks in or around Keenesburg, expect to receive a summons.
This year has been exceptionally dry, and it doesn't take much for one bad decision to become a grass fire that threatens homes, property, livestock, and lives.
We're not trying to ruin anyone's holiday. We'd much rather spend the weekend watching fireworks with our families than writing tickets and chasing fires across the prairie.
Unfortunately, the weather didn't ask us what our plans were.
So here's the deal:
🎆 Leave the illegal fireworks at home.
🔥 Don't create a fire we all have to deal with.
👮 If you're caught using illegal fireworks, don't be surprised when you're handed a summons instead of a sparkler.
Celebrate responsibly, enjoy the holiday, and help us keep Keenesburg from becoming the hottest attraction in Weld County.
Have a safe Fourth of July weekend!
