The Keenesburg Police Department encourages all residents to create a household security routine and avoid being victimized by prowlers. 'Harden" your home against intruders to keep your family safe. Your routine should include:

• Lock up your cars,
• Secure ground-floor windows and doors,
• Close the garage door,
• Lock gates, sheds, and outbuildings,
• Secure or bring in bikes, tools, firearms, keys, and other valuables,
• Turn on exterior lights, and
• Arm your security alarm system.

Criminals look for easy targets. Make it more difficult for them by establishing and following the 9PM routine! Throughout Colorado 75% of vehicle trespasses, and to a lesser degree stolen vehicles, can be prevented simply by locking the car. That's right, 75% of victimized cars were left unlocked. Criminals walk through neighborhoods at night trying door handles until they find an unlocked vehicle. Easily prevent vehicle trespasses simply by removing all of your valuables and locking your car doors.
